Traffic Tips

We want to thank all of the drivers who are making our drop off and pick up procedures in the back of the school run so smoothly this year. For the benefit of those who aren't familiar with the routine and will be transporting their children during the cold weather, we wanted to review the procedure to ensure the safety of all children.

  1. Enter the parking lot after turning from Salem Crossing. The road is one way exiting onto Salem Crossing between the hours 7:30-8:15 and 2:15-3:15;
  2. Drive through the parking lot staying to the right and pulling up to the next car so that drivers who wish to park, escort their child to/from the crosswalk, and then exit may do so. During pick up and drop off times, the parking lot is two lanes of one waytraffic. The left lane is to be open at all times to exit the lot. Please park carefully. Also, remember that it is against the law to utilize the handicap parking spots without displaying the appropriate sticker.
  3. For curbside pick up, continue through the lot on the right and into the street. Then, drive along the curb pulling up to the next car so we can maximize the number of pick-ups. If you are one of the first cars, please do not stop until you are even with the small parking lot on the side of the school. Again, during pick up and drop off times, the road is one way exiting onto Salem Crossing.
  4. Please remember that it is against the law to use a cell phone while operating your vehicle. Please drive carefully (under 5 miles an hour) along the curb.There are many children waiting to be picked up and your undivided attention is necessary to keep them safe.
  5. Please set a good example and use the crosswalk to and from the parking lot.
  6. If you arrive late in the afternoon and no one is out back, please proceed to the parking lot in front of the school, park, enter the school and meet your child in the lobby. Do not park along the curb in the front of the building as it is a bus lane.

With your cooperation, we can ensure that all our UES children arrive and depart school safely. Thank you for your attention to these procedures.
